To resolve these challenges without disrupting daily banking operations, MDT designed and executed an 11-branch network refresh centered on standardized deployment, centralized management, and redundant connectivity.

1. Hybrid Centrally Managed Estate (MikroTik + Fortinet)

We deployed a high-performance, hybrid hardware architecture across all 11 branches:

• Fortinet Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFW): Integrated at the perimeter to deliver centralized security policy enforcement, intrusion prevention (IPS), and encrypted site-to-site VPN tunnels.
• MikroTik Routers: Deployed to handle high-throughput routing, bandwidth management, and granular traffic shaping at an optimal cost-to-performance ratio.

2. Standardized VLAN Architecture Across All Sites

MDT standardized the internal local area network (LAN) setup across all 11 locations. Every branch was deployed with dedicated, isolated VLANs:

• Core Banking VLAN: Priority traffic reserved strictly for teller terminals and core financial databases.
• Corporate Voice/VoIP VLAN: Quality of Service (QoS) rules applied to ensure clear voice communications.
• Guest & Administrative VLANs: Strict isolation to ensure guest Wi-Fi or non-critical devices could never access sensitive financial segments.

3. Monitored Failover Links

To eliminate downtime caused by local ISP outages, MDT introduced dual-WAN connectivity at every branch location.

• Primary fiber lines were paired with secondary wireless/cellular backup links.
• Automated health monitoring protocols constantly track link latency and packet loss. If the primary line drops or degrades, traffic instantly switches over to the backup link without dropping active core banking sessions.
